What Google Sheets is for

Google Sheets is a free, collaborative spreadsheet from Google. It is the reason most small businesses have any records at all. It opens on any phone, several people can edit the same file at once, the history shows who changed what, and nobody has to be taught what a spreadsheet is. For a business working out how it wants to operate, a blank sheet is still the best first move there is.

Where it breaks in a chat-run shop

A workbook starts as a place to store numbers. Then it grows tabs for sales, stock, deposits, bookings, and daily notes, and it is now the database and the screen the staff use. Those two jobs want opposite things. The database wants strict columns. The person on a phone at closing time wants three taps.

Nobody updates it at the counter

The delivery arrives while both hands are full. Nobody opens a spreadsheet on a phone in the middle of that. The stock note goes into the group chat instead, because the chat is already open, and the sheet falls a day behind. Then a week. The owner catches up at night, from the scrollback, guessing at what the messages meant.

Asking it a question means opening it

Ask what stock is left or whether a supplier was paid, and Nossy reads the sheet fresh and answers in the chat. It can also send the answer without being asked: a daily summary at eight in the morning, a weekly report, a reminder that the tax filing is due. Nobody opens anything.

Google Sheets is free, and nearly everyone has used one before. An owner who is happy keeping their own sheet current does not need anything else, and should not pay for anything else.
A sheet you type yourself is exact, because you typed it. Nossy confirms any value it reads off a photo with the sender before it writes it, but for a document where one wrong digit matters, a person entering it by hand is still the surer path.

Common questions

Can Nossy replace Google Sheets?

No, and it does not try to. Nossy builds its workbook as a spreadsheet in your own Google Drive. Google Sheets stays exactly what it is. Nossy is the thing that keeps it filled in.

Will my staff actually use it?

They use the group chat they are already in. There is no new app to install and no login to remember. Staff say what happened, and Nossy writes the row. Nossy stamps who sent the message and when, so nobody fills in a "who" or "when" column.

What does it cost compared to Google Sheets?

Google Sheets is free for personal accounts, and included in Google Workspace plans otherwise (as of 2026-08). Nossy is $20 a month on Plus, $40 on Pro, and $100 on Max, one price for the whole business with no per-seat charge. You are paying for the data entry and the answers, not for the spreadsheet.

What happens to my data if I stop?

Nothing moves. The workbook is a spreadsheet in your own Google Drive. Cancel Nossy and the file stays where it is, readable and editable, with every row in it.
